SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS
1 egg
1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon mustard
1 tablespoon very finely grated onion
500 grams ground beef
SAUCE
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons butter (or margarine)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon molasses
1 cup ketchup
1 cup water
1/2 cup vinegar
1 tin unsweetened pineapple
Directions:
1. Beat egg until light.
2. Stir in next 7 ingredients.
3. Combine with ground beef. Possibly add a little flour if needed to hold ball shape.
4. Shape into bite sized balls & place into shallow pan and gently fry
5. Meanwhile saute onion in butter in a heavy pot
6. Add remaining ingredients & mix well. Simmer and thicken if necessary
7. Add meatballs to the pot & heat.
