{"id":406,"date":"2014-05-31T19:35:52","date_gmt":"2014-05-31T07:35:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/debskitchen.co.nz\/?p=406"},"modified":"2014-05-31T19:37:24","modified_gmt":"2014-05-31T07:37:24","slug":"lamb-shanks-crock-pot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/debskitchen.co.nz\/?p=406","title":{"rendered":"Lamb Shanks &#8211; Crock Pot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Lamb Shanks &#8211; Crock Pot<\/strong><em><br \/>\n4 Lamb Shanks<br \/>\n6 Small Onions or 2 Large ones ( I used small ones and quartered them)<br \/>\n1 x 400 gram tin Tomatoes<br \/>\n3 Cloves Garlic<br \/>\n1 Cup Chicken Stock (I used two small concentrate packets)<br \/>\n1 x Beef Stock Cube<br \/>\n1\/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper<br \/>\n1 teaspoon Mixed Herbs<br \/>\n2 Sprigs Rosemary (take leaves off and discard sticks)<br \/>\n3 Tablespoons Tomato Paste<br \/>\n1 1\/2 teaspoons sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 Bottle Red Wine<br \/>\n1 Teaspoon Butter<br \/>\n2 teaspoons Cornflour<br \/>\nSalt and Pepper<\/p>\n<p>Trim the shanks of excess fat, and brown in a frypan. This step really adds to the flavour later on.<br \/>\nSet the shanks aside and brown the onions and garlic.<\/p>\n<p>Add the can of tomatoes, garlic (finely chopped), chicken and beef stock, mixed herbs, Rosemary leaves,<br \/>\nCayenne Pepper, Tomato Paste, Sugar, Wine and Salt and Pepper<\/p>\n<p>Simmer for around 3 &#8211; 4 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Put the browned shanks in the Crock, and add your sauce mix.<br \/>\nCook on high for 1 hour, and low for around 7 &#8211; 8 hours<\/p>\n<p>When ready, your meat should be falling off the bone.  Carefully take the shanks out, and cover them with foil.<br \/>\nPut the crock on High, add the butter, and mix the cornflour with water, and add it to the mix to thicken.<\/p>\n<p>Serve the shanks with sauce spooned over the top.
