{"id":255,"date":"2013-10-17T09:08:05","date_gmt":"2013-10-17T09:08:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/debskitchen.co.nz\/?p=255"},"modified":"2013-10-17T09:08:05","modified_gmt":"2013-10-17T09:08:05","slug":"mulled-wine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/debskitchen.co.nz\/?p=255","title":{"rendered":"Mulled Wine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Mulled Wine<\/strong><br \/>\n1 Bottle of Red wine  (I used cheap Merlot)<br \/>\n1 Orange or 2 x Mandarin\u2019s<br \/>\n1 Lemon<br \/>\n1 tsp Ground Nutmeg, or grated whole nutmeg<br \/>\n1 tsp Ground Ginger<br \/>\n5 whole cloves<br \/>\n1 Stick cinnamon<br \/>\n\u00bd cup sugar<br \/>\n2\/3 cup brandy (miss out if you have none)<\/p>\n<p>Cut large sections of Peel off the Orange, Mandarin\u2019s and Lemon using a potato peeler.<br \/>\nPut the sugar in a large saucepan over a medium heat, add the pieces of peel and squeeze in the juice of the orange or Mandarin\u2019s.<br \/>\nAdd the cloves, cinnamon stick, nutmeg and ginger.<br \/>\nStir in just enough red wine to cover the sugar<br \/>\nLet this simmer until the sugar has completely dissolved, then bring to boil. Rolling boil for 4 \u2013 5 minutes, or until you have thick syrup.<br \/>\nWhen the syrup is ready, turn the heat down to low and add the rest of the wine. Gently heat the wine, and it is ready to serve after about 5 mins.<\/p>\n<p>Strain the Mulled wine through a sieve, and serve.
