{"id":1528,"date":"2026-04-14T09:43:43","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T21:43:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/debskitchen.co.nz\/?p=1528"},"modified":"2026-04-14T09:43:44","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T21:43:44","slug":"butter-chicken-marinated-overnight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/debskitchen.co.nz\/?p=1528","title":{"rendered":"Butter Chicken &#8211; Marinated overnight"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Marinade<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1\/2 cup plain Yoghurt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 Cloves garlic (crushed)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 teaspoons fresh finger (grated)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon Garam Masala<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon ground cumin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon Paprika<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon Turmeric<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon Salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sauce<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>2 Tablespoons Butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 Large Onion (chopped finely)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 Cloves Garlic (crushed)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 Teaspoons Fresh ginger (grated)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 teaspoons Garam Masala<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon Ground Cumin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 Teaspoon Paprika<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon Ground Coriander<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon Turmeric<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/8 teaspoon Chilli Powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 Tablespoons Tomato Paste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>350 grams Passata or canned tomatoes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1 kg Boneless Chicken thighs (skin off)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>To Finish<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> 1 Cup Plain Yoghurt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 Tablespoons Butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 teaspoons sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon Fenugreek leaves or Parsley (finely chopped)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon Salt and Pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Instructions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mix marinade ingredients all together, add chicken. Coat with the marinade, cover and leave overnight in the fridge, or minimum of 3 hours if you are short on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sauce<\/strong>:  Add butter and onion to a large pan, Saut\u00e9 until softened, then add Garlic, Ginger, Garam Masala, Ground Cumin, Paprika, Ground Coriander, Turmeric and Chilli powder. (cook for a few minutes, then add tomato paste and passata. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mix gently all together, then add the marinated chicken.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bring to a simmer, cover and cook until chicken is ready. Around 12 minutes for boneless thighs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Notes<\/strong>:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want a quick dinner, use boneless chicken breast, cubed it will cook quicker (around 8 minutes).  Chicken thighs don&#8217;t dry out as much, but take a little longer to cook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want a really smooth sauce, take the chicken out before you add the finishing ingredients and blend the sauce together, then add the chicken back in and then add finishing ingredients.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This dish thickens while standing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cool the sauce a little before gently adding your finishing ingredients<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Serve with Rice and Naan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marinade Sauce 1 kg Boneless Chicken thighs (skin off) To Finish Instructions Mix marinade ingredients all together, add chicken.
