{"id":1470,"date":"2025-07-25T13:55:19","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T01:55:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/debskitchen.co.nz\/?p=1470"},"modified":"2025-07-25T13:55:20","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T01:55:20","slug":"piccalilli-or-chow-chow-pickle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/debskitchen.co.nz\/?p=1470","title":{"rendered":"Piccalilli or Chow Chow Pickle"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<pre>1 x Large Cauliflower <br \/>1 Large Onion - Diced<br \/>2 Tablespoons Salt<br \/><br \/>250grms White Sugar<br \/>1 1\/2 Tablespoons Mustard Powder<br \/>2 teaspoons Turmeric<br \/>1\/2 teaspoon Curry Powder<br \/>1\/2 teaspoon Mixed Spice<br \/>2 Tablespoons Mustard Seeds<br \/>1\/8 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper<br \/>3 Tablespoons Cornflour<br \/>500 mls Cider Vinegar<br \/><br \/>Cut the Cauli into bite sized pieces.  Add to a large bucket with the onion and sprinkle with salt (no water) and let sit for 24 hours <br \/><br \/>Drain very well, and pat dry with a clean tea towel.<br \/>Add to a large pot<br \/><br \/>Mix sugar, Mustard Powder, mustard seeds, Turmeric, Curry Powder, Mixed Spice, Cayenne Pepper,<br \/>and Cornflour to a paste with the Cider Vinegar<br \/><br \/>Pour this over the Cauli and onion. Bring to the boil and simmer for about 15 mins.
